Senate Democrats Dominate Election Night, Republicans Reeling Ahead of November

Atlanta, Ga. — Georgians overwhelmingly voted for Democrats Tuesday night, sending Republicans, billionaires, special interests, and massive corporations a clear message: Georgians won’t let you push them around anymore.

Superstar Senate Democratic candidates outright won primaries in three target races: Laura Murvartian in SD-48, Darcy Castro in SD-37, and Pastor Eric Lee in SD-42. Incredible Democratic overperformance in those districts and others let Republicans know that they’re in for a 12 round heavyweight fight this November.

“We have an amazing diversity of candidates who truly understand what Georgians need to thrive in this difficult economy. We will be laser focused on expanding economic opportunities for working families — cutting costs, raising wages, and expanding affordable health care options. We will flip these seats and deliver Georgians the representation they deserve,” Senate Democratic Campaigns Chair Sonya Halpern said.

Georgians overwhelmingly reelected every Caucus incumbent running to stay in the Senate – a recognition of our vital role in combating corporate scam artists and Donald Trump’s MAGA trolls.

Impressive new talent won races to replace valuable retiring members. In SD-12, Edward Brown avoided a runoff to replace retiring Senator Freddie Powell Sims. He faces no Republican opposition this fall. House veterans Teddy Reese and Saira Draper also won primaries to replace retiring Senators Ed Harbison and Elena Parent. Reese and Draper both face Republican opposition in general election

Runoffs in Senate Districts 7, 10, and 14 will produce more incredible candidates for Senate Democrats.

“Our Caucus has put together, without a doubt, the best slate of candidates we’ve ever run. With a 53% Democratic electorate like we saw last night, special things can happen down ballot, and these candidates will make it happen,” Senate Minority Leader Harold V. Jones II said.

Republicans left election night divided. Their Gubernatorial candidates will waste another month arguing over who loves Donald Trump the most. Unfortunately for all of us, that means 30 more days of the formerly unknown billionaire candidate burning millions on AI slop broadcast ads in a final push to buy the Governor’s Mansion.

The GOP Lieutenant Governor runoff will see a candidate who sided with insurance companies over sex trafficking victims face a conspiracy theorist who can’t say whether Joe Biden won the 2020 election.

Also, Vernon Jones will be in the Secretary of State runoff. Yeah, that Vernon Jones. They actually did that.

Georgia Senate Democrats will soon release a policy platform explaining what a Democratic majority means for Georgians. Our focus will be on raising wages, controlling costs, breaking the corporate stranglehold on politics, and protecting Georgians from federal government overreach.

Minority Leader Jones II is available for comment.
